Engine is out. What extra to do?

4.3L engine is out for a rebuild, what should I do to hull?/ improvement or good ideas?? I plan to pressure wash engine bay and and replace bilge pump, check blowers..reinforce behind tow-rope-lug(small fiberglass crack) right above engine.
How about the holes where the engine-mount-lag-bolts thread into the hull? Should I put something in ther like wood dowel or something to "tighten them up"?
Is there any special wax or paint to use under the engine area to make it easy to keep clean later?
How about painting the rebuilt engine. Why are the Volo-pentas all black. To hide leaks? What about a nice ChevroletOrange paint job on the engine to make it easy to spot leaks? Would it negatively affect resale, as if looking too "automotive" and not looking like a "marine" engine..

Wierd, just about all the Volvos I've seen are Chev orange (red).

Mercruisers are black and OMCs are blue.

So a Chev orange paint job would be fine in my opinion.

Perhaps the installation of an oil drain kit if you don't have one.
A hose kit that goes on your oil pan drain with a hose long enough to stick out your transom drain hole. At oil change time you warm it up. shut it off pull the hose out the drain and drain in to a pan on the ground.. No more oil sucking.

Maybe a remote oil filter kit too, makes it real easy to service.

If you do paint it ChevroletOrange paint it white first it makes it a very nice color and the oange stands out better IMOO.

Clean the bilge, prime and paint gloss white with oil based paint.
Get the plastic wire harness covers (your choice of color).
The idea as far as engine paint goes, it's suppose to look like no one has touched it, make it look stock (professional). Personally I prefer Gloss Black Imron for the engine (including the aluminium intake manifold), transom and sterndrive using a 6:1 mixing ratio, it always looks wet and lasts longer than the boat. How rotten are the engine mount bolt holes? Did you need a wrench to remove the bolts? Then they're tight enough. But then again, if you were looking at a boat to buy and it looked like a circus clown, I'm sure you'd buy it.
