Engine manual recommendations needed.

Hi,

I have contacted Ken Cook for a service manual for my 1990 Johnson 115 hp (J115TLES) and they have responded back with a list of others.

They are:
Parts catalog
owners manual
accessory parts catalog
and a service manual

The service manual I will order, but are there any of these others that I should have? The service manual is $80 and the others add up to another $100.

Thanks for the help,

Al

Next to the service manual, the most worthwhile book is the parts catalog. It shows exploded views of all the components. And the parts guy will be a lot friendlier if you go armed with the part numbers when you want something.

If you are at the point of considering working on the motor, you are way past the owner's manual stage. (Hopefully)

With respect to what I just said about the parts catalog, you don't need to buy one. You can see it free on-line at BRP's website. Copy and paste this (without the quotation marks "http://epc.brp.com/default.aspx?brands=ej&lang=E"

Thanks!

Bombardier's web site is a big help. Curious though, is there an explanation for so many model numbers for these engines?

Yep, all the numbers and letters mean something. Manual tilt, power tilt, power tilt and trim, long shaft, extra long shaft, color, and on and on, depending on what was offered. On yours, the ES means 1990, from the code word INTRODUCES where I=1, N=2, T=3, well you get the idea.
