Engine missing @ high RPM's

Just had an OMC Cobra 2.3 Rebuilt. Boat has been sitting for a while and seems to be skipping/missing in the higher RPM range. Points ,plugs? What do ya'll think? Runs fine in lower RPM range.

I would definitely start with ignition components. New plugs, then cap and rotor, (points if you have 'em). If that doesn't work then plug wires. That shouldn't cost too much, and is necesary anyway.

Also check that your advance is working properly. If the distributor does not advance fully this may be causing the breakdown.

also make sure it is getting enough fuel. water in gas or partailly plugged filters can cause same symptoms. a loose wire on my ignition switch manifested itself in hard start and high rpm miss, but that is a real long shot.
