I have just finished fiberglassing two new engine mounts stringers and want to know what to seal the fiberglass with. I was thinking two coats of gel coat. Let me know if you have any other ideas

two coats of gellcoat is just fine.,, and the industry standard.

if you used waxed resin for the top coat of the glass, you will need to remove the wax for the gellcoat to bond

I used unwaxed resin and will use unwaxed gel coat for the first layer then waxed gel coat for the final. Can I apply the second coat of gel to the still wet/tacky first coat?

I let my first coat "kick off" before I put down teh second coat. What I learned was not to go over it too much when it was wet, as the roller tends to take it right back off.

Is a couple hours long enough to wait before applying second coat?

Prolly more like an hour. As soon as it tacks up and you can touch it with your fingers without getting any thing on ya!!!
