If alignment is good do you have to check or torque engine mounts? If so when/how and what is the proper way. I had this question come up and it's a good one. Do engine mounts get loose or they just need to be checked or adjusted if alignment is out. I know most people check alignment and if engine mounts are flush or have any other signs of stress but is there a service that needs to be done?
Thanks.

Re: Engine mounts

Engine mounts can get loose if the wood which makes up the mount gets water in it and rots. The lag bolts can get loose which is a good indication of a problem. The rear engine mounts have a large spring washer that can rust and even break and fall out which will cause mis-alignment. If the engine alignment is out of adjustment, the first question I ask myself is - what has changed? There will be some settling of the mounts in some cases. Depends on how well they were constructed in the first place.

Without knowing what you are working on, it's impossible to give specifics, but if the alignment is ok, then there probably isn't a problem. But it doesn't hurt to check the bolts and make sure they aren't loose.

Ayuh,.... Usually, the only bolts that loosen are the lag bolts, 'n Usually because of Rotten wood...
