Cant seem to satisfactorily get oil out via dipstick tube. Eng. is a 2001 5.0,new to me, dipstick tube does not go to bottom of base, only a 1/4 tube will fit down dip.hole and in to oil; and my manual standup 8 litre plastic vacuum sucker doesnt seem up to the task. Am getting 24 inches of vac., it will only just draw a trickle. takes so long engine cooled down and im still only half done.Looking for better ideas, hopefully not involving pulling engine and installing a real drain.

Your engine should have a drain hose plumbed to the bottom of the oil pan. Some people like to just warm the engine and pull the hose out the drain plug of the boat. But it's slow at best. I just hook up the pump to that hose and the oil is out in no time. Even if you don't have that hose, the dipstick tube goes to the bottom of the pan, just hook your pump to the tube, no reason to put a smaller tube inside the dipstick tube.

Finally got it to work.Got a 5/16 tube down the hole, (which I had tried yesterday without success, for some reason it seemed to stop short of the bottom),warmed engine up good on a run, and out came the oil no problem. Don this engine for whatever reason has an automotive type dipstick arrangement, tube does not go to bottom.Tried it and it just sucks air. It does have garden hose threads at top as if its made to attach suction to but it doesnt work that way Im sad to say.

Like you posted, warm the engine a bit (5 mins should be good) and run the plastic tube all the way into the pan thru the dipstick tube. I have to do mine that way and it pulls all oil in less than 5 minutes.
