engine oil fill up ??

im new to inboard motors just wanted to ask where to add more oil for the engine. i see 2 caps on the engine i have it circled on the picture. i was wondering if thats the right place to put oil in if my engine oil is low and if it is the right place do i have to pour in oil in both caps or i can just pour all the oil in on 1 cap ? i have a chevy 350 v8 engine.....and what kind of engine oil would i need to use when adding more oil 10W 30 ???

yup, those are the caps . . . no difference than an automotive engine in that regard. Probably should verify the oil weight spec'd out in the shop manual, but 10W-40 might be better.

If you dont paint the pulley from pink to black, your asking for big problems. Just my .0002

Either/or, the oil will still end up where it belongs. My manual sez use 20-50 oil in my Volvo/Chevy 350.

Who knows what could happen, but I think something is bound to happen with a pink pulley on a black engine.

It also appears that neither of your PCV valves on top of your valve covers are hooked up. Maybe your flame arrester inst stock and doesn't have the hook ups. Ya might want to figure out a way to hook those back up. That engine has obviously had some work done to it. I would take a good look at the starter, alternator etc. to make sure they are all marine parts and your not driving a time bomb.

It's a Volvo engine, from the 1994-97 era, as it has the mechanical fuel pump. No PCV valves on those engine, just vent hoses to the flame arrestor to keep the fumes and oil out of the engine compartment. Sure glad I don't have to pull the starter on that engine.
