I recently purchased a remanufactured engine for my larson dc 190 cuddy cabin. Could any one give me any input on which oil to use for the initial startup process?
I can't think of anyone who makes a straight 30 synthetic.
Rotella straight 30 in the gallon jugs at any auto parts stores or truck stops is easy to find and a great oil.
Not to get another oil thread going but i have used it for years.
I`d make sure to "pre-oil" the motor internals first, BEFOR starting it for the very first time.
So It should be OK to switch to synthetic the next oil change then right?

If you insist on sythetic after break in, try any diesel grade synthetic 20-50, or I think amsoil makes a 25-40.
I run straight 30w delo-400, most boat engines get so few hours on them that regular 30w is good for a season.
I would rather run non sythetic for a season and put new oil in in the fall, than run 2 years with the sythetic.
Oh I see, know its time for some of us to become smart arsses huh? Youre funny Bubba,I use banana oil that has been hand pressed by Eskimo virgins during the night cycle and strained through the red hair of an Irish woman who is the mother of a seventh son. I know its the best because its the most expensive and smells better than any other.
