Re: !!??engine popping and sputtering??!!

well i put the icm back on today and reset timing fired up ran smooth no backfiring or sputtering it is still hitting a rev limiter at high rpm like 5 or so i cant really tell where exactly its hittin because my tach is not keeping up with motor so i asked a local marine mechanic and he told me the newer model thunderbolt v has a built in rev limiter is this true? or do i still have an issue

Check the quick disconnect between harness and fuel pump. The contact points may need cleaning or the female tabs may need to be made smaller. At 4K all that jostling may be causing the bad connection and as a result intermittent power to fuel pump. Especially if you have been jamming probes into the plug. That was my problem.
