engine position on transom

Can you tell me what you think about the position of this motor?

The plate is about 1.5 inches below the hull. Should I try and bring it up higher? If so, how to bring it up?

Lift the engine, put a 12" piece of 2X2 between engine clamps and the top of the transom, set'er back down and clamp'er down. Couldn't tell from the pics but if there are holes for through the transom bolts, use them also.

2x2, good idea! I don't know why I couldn't think of something like that.

In the near future I am going to replace the transom wood. Should I incorporate the extra height into the new wood?
