I find that my 1993 Evinrude 225 (25 shaft), is surging at high rpms. I founhd that the primer bulb was squezzing closed so i removed it and still the motor surges at high rpm's. Any suggestions? The boat if it matters is a 2008 Sea Chaser 250LX Bay Runner.

Re: Engine Problems

Maybe a venting problem check to make sure you tank vents are open.

Re: Engine Problems

Check all fuel line connections for air leaks and check your fuel filter/water seperator for water in the fuel.

Re: Engine Problems

I have checked the vent line and looks clear of obstruction. I have also checked the fuel lines and everything seems good. I have also noticed that when i fuel my boat that i get alot of backlash of fuel so i have a feelin that it is a vent line as well but do not under stand that if there is nothing preventing it from flowing why is it doing it. I can run the boat at 4100rpm buit if i get any higher than it starts to surge.

Re: Engine Problems

Unhook your vent line from the hull . You should be able to blow hard into it, you may have a kink. If air does not enter freely I would think you have found your problem.

I would also check the anti syphon valve located at the tank. They are notorious for sticking in a semi closed position
