Re: engine problems

Ok....I understand that the exhaust gaskets need to be replaced, but where did water enter the oil from if the intake was not leaking? if the last rocker arm was not working, would that be an exhaust valve or an intake valve? If the engine was backfiring through the carb, could it have sucked water back into the engine?

Well, I just thought of something. The backyard mechanics didnt seal the exhaust properly, they may not have sealed the intake properly either.
They didnt even use the thermostat gasket, just sealer. Then I took off the thermostat housing and found that they didnt even put in the thermostat...they left it out.
Apparently, a plactic piece with a tab on it was broken inside the thermostat housing that supported the thermostat. So instead of ordering a new one, they left it out.
I just want to scream.

I talked to a real Certified Mercruiser Tech. today and he would have charged me about $800. more for laber, but he would have built it professionally and even took her to the water for trial runs.

Anyone in NC....stay away from DANNICHOLAS Boat,Jetski, Lawnmower repair center in Salisbury,NC.
