Need help with Merc numbers to convert over to auto belt numbers. My other boat is a 1986 Celberty Celalis with a 260 hp 350. Last weekend Shreaded the alt belt and the other belt does not look good. So i can not size up the Alt belt. I think i tried useing way to much belt dressing to keep the squeeking down. My son said Dad thats not a good idea and i said i know, it will be alright. Duh! I tried looking on a few sites to get the numbers but no luck. I need to replace both Alt and Power steering/ water pump Belt. Went to Merc dealer and they want almost $80 bucks for the two. OUCH! So i was trying to do resurch for auto conversion and ran into snag. Does anyone know of a site that will give Merc part numbers? Thanks People for all your wise help.

No i did not try iboats. Would love to but, We dont use credit cards anymore to buy ANY i mean anything, ( As my wife would say ) they always seem to get you into TROUBLE! If we dont have the cash were outa luck wait till next week. So Napa will have the Merc number in a book and then they can cross over to a gates belt. Right????

Get a debit card. Then yu can order errr online and you still can't spend more money then is in your account.

Think about how much $ you are wastig because you have to buy everything locally.

Yea i know, but what the Wife says goes. No to be honest you are very right. We do have a debit card but use it only for emergency situations. I dont like to buy anything at the dealer either and i do shop for prices on the net before i buy from them. Sometimes you cant wait 3 days to get the part. You know have to be on the water this weekend kind of thing.

Re: Engine pully belt part numbers?

Went to NAPA and got the new belts $21/00 total price gates XL brand. They had used a merc book to get the numbers. Went to the lake this weekend pulled off engine cover and what was left of the power steering belt. Went to put new belts on and guess what Alt to big and P.S. to small thats what you get for trying to save a buck. But all is good took belts back to local NAPA and had them give me new belts one 3/4" shorter and one 3/4" longer. Both fit like a glove and worked well over the long weekend. So just to say it can be done, But most of the time when trying to save money you end up spending more on gas for the runaround effect. Happy Boating fellow Boaters
