engine questions

Just wondering if I can add things like chrome valve covers and such from a regular truck engine? I have a bunch of things in the garage from an old pick up I used to own and need to replace the valve cover gaskets anyway. I would think it is ok but would like to hear if the marine ones are any different.

Also is it ok to wash down an engine like you would a car engine? Anything special to do or not to do?

When making any changes, the first question must be; does it affect the risk of fire or explosion?
With valve covers, no.
In fact my OMC covers were 100% identical to the ones on a Chevy but with OMC paint & decals.
I had to change then to taller chrome ones to clear roller rockers. I also polished the top of the flame arrester and added polished ss headers, it looks pretty sharp in there.
