Update: I decided to take the carb. and rebuild it.....found some gunk in there, I think it's from old gas...
Put it back on and the engine ran without stalling.....got it out on the water yesterday and it ran well!!!! No rattling.... One time it did hesitate and didn't want to revv up for about 10 seconds then it gradually increased the RPM's. I ran it at WOT for about 5 miles without rattling....Awesome! I added marine fuel stabilizer in hopes that I can run through the last 70 gallons of gas without pumping it out.....

my boat is a 3.0 and i have this issue, did that fix it? what is the status now?

If you have a question, ask it in a new thread, don't compare your 3.0 problem with someone elses 5.0 problem. Replies get really confusing that way.
