I want to rebuild my 4.1 mercruiser and was surprised at the cost of an overhaul gasket set at marine suppliers, 280$ and up. A set for a 250 chevy at many auto parts stores is considerably less. I know it would not include all the necessary gaskets, but even buying the additional ones needed it still is considerably less. The question is: is there a actual difference in the gasket themselves between auto and marine gaskets?
