engine revs on accell at cruise then is ok

I have a inling 6 mercury 115, 1981 year, at cruising speed, if you go to wide open from about 1/4 throttle like hard accell, the engine revs but takes it a minute then the boat goes on like it should, I have ridden in other boats and they dont do that, like the clutch in slipping in a car, also this happens when I turn I t may be that the prop is gettiing out of the water but I know that I barely have it trimmed up from all the way down, it has an aftermarket stainless steel 17P prop and a stingray hydrofoil on it, it is a 17ft bass boat, any help would be appreciated, I just dont want there to be anything wrong with the drive unit, I am new to boats if you couldnt alreadfy tell, work with me guys and thanks again, I will get all this boating stuff down soon I hope, I am a big car guy

My guess is that you have a spun prop. Search for the term "spun prop" on this furum and you will get lots of information on what this is, how to test for it, and how to get it fixed.

well update here I bought a new prop,it did the same thing I did not have a spunprop at all, the prop when trimmed up barely was getting out of the water just enough that when hard accel or turning would rev up and not go, I should have noted this but me being new to boats, the used boatI bought has an aftermarket jack plate installed, they had the motor adjusted up so high that it couldnt be trimmed up, they did this to take the drag off ofthe engine so it would take less engine torque to plane off, the merc 115 had a severe bog due to an over rich condition that needed tuning, got that tuned in, dropped the engine down on the jack plate and we was good to go problem fixed, I have a good spare prop now, hope this helps someone else, always look at the obvious first, you never know what other people do to get around a problem, just fix the root problem and everything else just comes together, the bog was the root concern
