Hi can anyone tell me what engine this is from the attached pic.

I am pretty certain its a Mercury Bluband 50 HP circa about 1985. It has 4 cylinders and external PTT.

The reason I ask is that the engine has no serial number and I am finding it difficult to get parts without a serial number.

It would be convenient if somebody could supply me a serial number I could use for ordering parts on the net. (If thats possible).

:p I would like to put an image here but don't know how to using UBB Code as my images are on my hard drive and not the web.

However I can E Mail anyone a pic if they think they can help me.

Re: Engine Serial Number

Thanks.

I've looked here before and figured that mine is probably a 1983 50 HP. Its hard to tell tho as mine is an Ex MOD (UK Military) engine and is painted grey. It never seems to have been black.

Even then with the 1983 identified I have found that Mercury parts sellers want the serial number to make sure they get the correct parts.

There does seem to be a few minor variations within the mark.

I was hoping that I could pin mine down to a particular batch and then use a widely known serial number from within that batch to source my parts with.

Re: Engine Serial Number

If you find the serial no, it will most likely start with a 9, being a "European" motor.
Here is a link to a pdf which might help.

http://www.glmmarine.com/pdf/mm.pdf

You may be able to work in reverse, by idenifying embossed part no's and checking the list.

Hi Red205

That PDF I downloaded I have now managed to print out some parts of it.

Each page has "GLM" printed on the bottom. Can you tell me is this a US parts dealer and if so do you have their web address please.

It's in California .. Couldn't get more USA than that..
:D :D

http://www.glmmarine.com
There are a few other British iboats members here, who may be able to help with parts suppliers in the UK. The Part numbers are international.

Re: Engine Serial Number

Sorry to hijack the thread, I have downloaded your document and have a belgium motor serial no 09982646 in the pdf it shows the USA serial number OD000750 next to the Belgium one. Does this mean that if I order parts to fit USA OD000750 they will fit my motor as well?

Regards

Chris
