It was freezing a few nights before. I had drain all the water out of the exhaust manifold and the block a month ago. The weather got really nice out so I decided to winterize my boat. She started right up. I had the muffs on it. Ran solid with no issues for the first ten minutes and temperature was normal. About 15 minutes later the engine started to smoke. I looked at the temp gauge and it was normal. It had a stinky smell like it was overheating. Water was flowing properly as it was coming out of the exhaust. I didnt have the blower on at the time so I turned it on. I took the engine cover off and Noticed that the engine had alot of vibration. Kept it running and fogged the motor. I shut it off and I noticed that one of the spark plug cable came off of the distrubtor. I Didnt start it back up again. Drained the water out and changed the engine oil. Wonder what that could be??

You probably bumped a wire off when you drained the block. The missing cylinder would make it smoke eventually and cause the vibration. When you changed the oil you would have noticed the milkshake colour of water in it if had a crack in the block.
Just check it again when you start up in the spring. You are probably OK.

Give us a little help. Smoking from "where". Under the engine cover isn't much help. We will assume it is the engine that's smoking, but from where on the engine? Front, back, top, left side, right side? White smoke, blue smoke, smelling like burning oil or burning electrical.

I drained the oil and its not milky at all. Its smoking like all over the engine. There was smoke coming around the valve cover as well. I dont think its from over heating as the temp gauge was in normal temp. It smelt like oil burning. Black color type of smoke. I kept the motor running and seems to run good. It did sound like a knocking sound (not loud) but I think that was from the vibration and the spark plug cable coming undone. First 10 minutes was smooth. So maybe the cable was loose to begin with and then popped off 10 min later

Maybe some oil got on the engine during the change and burned off when it got to temp.

This happen before the oil change. I was told its best to change the oil when the motor is hot. I should mention when I pulled the intake filter off and the PCV came off with it and there was alot of smoke coming out of the PCV hole

Perhaps it just runs enough warmer on the muffs the the residual oil and stuff over the course of the season was burning off. a little smoke from the pcv hole is no big deal.

That might just be it, good thinking there. That would make sence as there was some oil sitting on my engine. Thanks Spdracr39
