1973 mercruiser inline 6. 165 Hp Ok... So I finally took the boat out and had a really good time on it... Got up to 39 miles per hour! Pretty excited about that! Did a little bit of fishing, didn't catch anything but still have fun... However when I started her back up, she started fine, she's running fine, except when I put her in forward I can only go about 3 miles per hour before she dies out... Any faster and she stalls... after a few minutes VERY SLOWLY inching the throttle forward she started picking back up no problem. .. it has a full tank of New gas, so I know that's not the problem. ..

Check the accelerator pump. With engine off, look down the throat of the carb and have someone move the throttle handle forward. You should see a steady stream of gas

Take the carb apart and replace it, maybe just clean the whole carb and replace the needle and seat (carb rebuild)
