Hey guys,

Well, I took her out yesterday for the first time in 2 months..She started up great and ran fine for about 5 minutes and then just stalled at about 3/4 throttle..I pumped the primer bulb but it would never tighten up...It just felt like it the fuel wasn't reaching the motor..I disconnected the fuel hose from the motor and pushed in the release and pumped the bulb and fuel was spraying out just fine...The gas in the tank shouldn't be to old yet as it was fresh 2 months ago right?? Does this sound it may be the fuel hose or maybe the fuel pump?? aarrrggghhh!!! Any idea what a fuel pump runs?? Any help would be greatly appreciated as always!! Thanks guys..

Hey TW....try something. Take the fuel line from the gas tank and engine and empty it. After that, shake the primer bulb and see if you can hear anything rattlin' around in it. If you do, may be on of the vlv's in the bulb fell apart. You can compress the bulb and sometimes feel the little ball laying in there.

Would the engine restart at all? If it wouldn't "kick", you may have an ignition problem. Check and make sure ya' got spark on all three cylinders.

Just generally speaking, when an engine just shuts down, that generally means an ignition problem. If it coughs and hacks and weezes before shutting down, generally indicates fuel problems.

Re: engine stalls??

I just drained the gas from the fuel line...Oh man!!! What the heck??? It was like a creamy cream color with the oil floating on the top..It looked like there was some water in it..How it got there I couldn't tell you!! It didn't look blue like it normally does!! Man, I hope I didn't ruin this motor..I wonder if someone put something in my gas tank..I keep it in a public storage but it is out in the open not in a stall or anything..What should I do about this bad gass?? Dump it out of course and what else..I am ussming this is definitely the problem!! I can't believe it looked like that after 2 months!!! I wonder if it gunked up the carbs..I didn't run it very long..Do you think I may have hosed it?? Thanks

I guess I don't understand why the bulb won't get hard..I keep pumping it over and over and nothing..Where is the fuel going if any?? When I remove the hose from the engine and stick something in it to open the valve, the gas squirts out when I press the bulb.. Do you guys think that the fuel pump has gone out??

Is the bulb hard if you squeeze it while disconnected from the engine. If not, bulb is probably bad

if i were you id replace the fuel line and then drain the carbs to make sure that mess is out
take the engine cover off and take the air fiter assembly off there should be nine flat head bolts covering the carbs take the pastic cover off on the carbs there is a flat head bolt take that off and drainon each of the carbs

Don't forget the junk thats' left in the VRO pump. While your at the top carb with the drain plug out of the bowl, pump the bulb and flush out the pump. It would be a good idea to flush out all the bowls like this. Messy....need lottsa rags. Don't smoke either!

Re: engine stalls??

I have the fuel line connected to the fuel tank but disconnected from the motor and I can pump the bulb to eternity and it never gets tight..I keep hearing the gass slosh around in the bulb when I squeeze it but thats it..It does the same when the hose is completelt disconnected from everything as well..I will take your advice and replace the bulb, put fresh gas in, and drain the carbs..OBJ,The VRO has been disconnected, but I will pump fresh gas/oil through the carbs with the bulb though...I guess my fuel tank has a leak..I don't know why else all that water was in there...Do any of you think a fuel pump could be the prob here? I don't even know where it is on this motor!!Thanks guys!!
