hi guys swapping 350s in my sea ray monaco, forum is great ,my question the new (used) 350 was from inboard so a lot has to be switched over bell housing, pulleys, power steering etc. my question , the oil pan in new motor is considerably bigger I would like to use it but I dont think it will fit in boat if i do switch it is everything the same inside, in other words will old oil pan fit new motor or is something different

...the larger (and usually deeper) pan may have a windage tray and certainly the oil pump will have a longer pick-up tube. The bolt pattern should be the same but that too depends if both blocks are one or two piece main seal.

thanks eddie they are both 1987 260 hp the new one is slightly deeper hard for me to describe but it doesnt angle up till a few inches before end of oil pan where the old one angles up in the middle. I would like to use the new one if it fits but if it doesnt what do I have to do to make old one fit

Just keep the oil pump pick-up's matched to their pans and you should be alright.

If the new pan is deeper, and you suck your oil from the top, you'll leave a lot behind

one more question why if these 2 motors are the same make and same year is one oil pan bigger than the other the new one (used) is bigger than the old one I would love to use the new oil pan if it will fit in the boat but I am just curious why they are different

Ayuh,.... Anything beyond the basic Long Block is outfitted with whatever parts that are needed for whatever application that is wanted...
