engine swap

[90capri]

i have a 1990 bayliner 2050 capri with the 3.0, was wondering if anyone has swapped out the 3.0 to a 5.0 or a 5.7, an major issues? any help would be great thanks

It's Merc...... Bayliner didn't use OMC in 90.
You will need a different gear ratio in the drive, exhaust Y pipe and hoses for the V8, different motor mounts. The V8 mounts to the stringers, the 3.0 mounts a cross piece on the front of the engine. So the stringers MAY be different.
The engine cover may not fit over the V8....... Too small.
Other than that, it should be easy
