Re: engine/trans id help

Well just picked up the new stern drive other than needing new paint it looks good they said it was just rebuilt but for good measure I am gonna change the water pump and gear oil there was still even grease on the drive shaft

I will order that pivot ring when I order humble bearings.

first humble = Gimble I hate autocirrect

ok I thought someone might be interested in a upper unit pic or two when I got home I decided to pull the top off the old drive upper unit and here is what I foundIMG_20131026_172812.jpgIMG_20131026_172815.jpgIMG_20131026_172820.jpgIMG_20131026_172824.jpg

So all I can say is I am glad I found a new drive

Pretty much a mess in their.

Note: I wouldn't order a gimbal ring until you know it's bad. It may need the top pin but having a look and the seal can always be a good thing but requires taking the pin out. Removing the pin is best done when the engine is out, it can be done from the out side but more difficult.

Re: engine/trans id help

Hey question I am putting together my basic part / tool list and have a dumb question for the purpose of realigning the gimbal bearing can I use an extra driveshaft or should I order an alignment tool?.

Thanks
