I have previously overheated motor but not for long. Main drive belt snapped. I would say it might of gotten hot for 5-10 min before I realized it and killed the motor.

It seems since then I can cold start all day long, but after I get to my fishing spot to troll, two things happen...

1. when i shut off to prep fishing gear, motor will not start and if it does it has a very hard time doing so.

2. I will get an irradict idle, to the point where it looks and feels like my motor is shaking and want's to stall.

This is what I noticed, if I remove the cover for the engine (to allow air to flow) it seems to do okay. I still have some rough idling but it don't seem as bad, and the motor WILL restart.

I was thinking about some new wires, rotor and cap, maybe plugs since the overheat.

I really need assistance with this. Can anyone help me get this motor stablized for some decent fishing trips this year?

Thanks,

Forgot to mention it's a 4 cyl. Volvo penta cobra sx.

I'm confident if I run this boat in my driveway for 40 min it's start and stop all day long. Warm or not.

Help pls.

You'll have to See if it's getting Too Much Fuel,..... Or Too Little Fuel.........

A Vapor-lock will Lean it,...... And a Leaky Carb might Flood it.......

As for the Rest of it,...... A Tune-Up is Always a Good Idea...........

Check your ignition components like coil/pickup coil and distributor cap.
I bet that's where the problem is.
Let us know.
