I've got a 1969 mercury 1250 that is starting to show it's age in the engine wires. I recently replaced the diapragh on the the fuel pump and in the process bent the incoming wire haness out of the way. The insulation on several of the wires crumbled on me. Once I figure out the wire gauge can I just replace the wires with new ring terminals or should I get a new wire harness for the inside of the engine? The Clymer manual tells me where the wires go but doesn't tell me wire gauge. Thanks

Most are 12 gauge, lots of luck. You can get new harnesses thru CDI/Rapair

Thanks for the info on the wire size. Not sure what CDI\rapair is? Can't seem to find it as a web site. www.cdi\repair.com??? Can you clarify for me?

Also... try Ebay. New CDI/Rapair harnesses often show up there, cheap. Search on "Mercury internal wire harness" :)

-W
