Hi all i am hoping i can receive some help finding the correct parts. I have been slowly replacing parts in my boat to get her in running condition and when it came time to turn her over i managed to melt the engine harness. Well after cleaning out the previous owners rats nest of spliced speaker wire we have all the dash controls wired correctly to the fuse panel. I also installed a new starter solinoid. still nothing but a short in the harness i believe. So old harness completely removed and ordered a new replacement from ebasic power (http://bpi.ebasicpower.com/mm5/merc...r&Product_Code=MAR6118-18&Category_Code=MERWH) I found the new harness cannon plug doesn't match the engine plug recepticle on the breaker. After inquiring i was told thats the only harness i can get for my boat. the old style isn't made anymore.

Can anyone offer any info on how to remedy this? Can i find an adapter maybe? who offers such a product? I would have cut the new cannon end off and replaced it with the old but we found the old end was where it was shorted (two posts had a split in the rubber and had corroded together). I really had hoped not to have to rewire the entire engine just for the correct plug end.

Thanks for your help guys!

Why not just get a new male and female connector, cut off the existing ones, and attach the new ones. Electricity doesn't care what the connector looks like. Try Radio Shack. They have a great selection of connectors (two through about 12 pins) and required pins. You can also buy two, three, and four pin auto style waterproof connectors at many auto stores. So instead of one big connector, use a couple smaller ones. The connectors have pigtails to only splicing and application of heat shrink would be needed. A visit to a local auto salvage yard would net you an abundance of auto style connectors on the cheap.
