Engine won’t go into drive after hitting sand bar

I would absolutely get riser to manifold gasket and pull the risers and elbow off instead of risking breaking a Y pipe. This a good thing in that you get to inspect your manifold condition at the same time. You can get the gasket and reinstall after you have reinstalled the motor.
