Hello all I am new to the boating world and took on apparently a plague fromt he start of the FORCE to be reckoned with.

When I bought the boat every thing was working good. After using the boat on several occasions somethign must of happened because now she wont start.

I have a MERC 70HP FORCE motor, that when I turn the key to run it wants to kick over but wont. I have pumped it with fuel several times and still I get nothing. I did notice some oil coming out of the prop area for whatever that's worth. I dont know the best place to start here.

Does anyone know of a good MERC force mechanic? I would like to get this baby tuned and make sure we hopefully can prevent a huge disaster here. I am located in orange county but will drive anywhere for someone good.

Everytime I get out of the water I flush it with fresh water for 5-10 mins.

I am tryign to find out what these symptoms mean?

Thanks in advanced

Hello randomact and welcome to Iboats. You need to start with a few things. First make sure that if you have a landyard switch that it is either disabled or plugged in and working. I would start by testing for spark. This can be done by removing the plugs and while they are plugged into the wire crank it in a dark room. The threaded part of the plugs need to be tied to metal on the motor to do this. You can also remove the plugs and stick a big bolt in the plug wire and try to jump the spark to the metal on the outboard. The oil you are seeing is a gas oil mix that probably means you are getting gas to the cylinders and because it is not firing the gas oil combination is just dripping down the motor leg and out the lower unit.
