Engine won't turn over... Sometimes.

I have a 2004 Larson LXi 210 with a volvo GXi 5.0L. The problem I'm having is sometimes it won't turn over. It starts when cold, and runs fine, but once it's off, it won't turn over, and the solenoid doesn't even click. I replaced the starter and solenoid, that didn't help. Then I replaced the relay on top of the engine labeled 'start;', and that didn't help either. If I remove the lanyard switch, it stops power to everything, so I believe that switch is fine. Any ideas? I have not checked the neutral safety switch, or the ignition switch. Is there anything else I'm missing? It's driving me crazy.

I think you are covering the bases. Keep in mind that the lanyard switch could be intermittent.

Does it consistently not re-start once warmed up?

check the ignition switch and the neutral safety switch.

Agree, check ignition and neutral safety switches and the wires going from key to the start relay, which go thru the engine connector. Don't see it being the kill switch because that kills ignition power. If pulled (off position) it will still crank, but will not start

Thanks for the replies. When it won't start, I've tried the kill switch, and it does interrupt the electrical, so I have ruled that out. The next two steps are the neutral safety switch, and the ignition, but they don't get hot with the boat running. Unless the neutral safety switch is aft (near the engine), but I was thinking it would be in the shift controller.

Since you replaced the solenoid, check for 12 V from that point on going back to the ignition switch, When you finally find 12V you'll know where the problem is.

Neutral safety switch is mounted on the remote control lever, might just be a bit sticky WD40 it, but my bet is the ignition switch.
