you can also get the bigger live traps. Bait em up with raw chicken. Make sure you hit it with "scent away" so it doesn't smell like you. I have heard thay are more humane than the other traps. Personally if i cought one,the trap would just hold the critter till i could shoot it.

I'm no hunter. I fish.

But when a coyote comes on the property and starts helping himself, he has be be taken care of.

yup!!!

burn em out......

out forest fighters dont have enough to do right now.! :D:D:eek:

an old tick my buddy used at beaverdale for griz was to pour urine on the base of trees and scratch higher on the trees than the claw marks.

the natural way works great.....set up a mock chicken coop with eggs in it. they come in.....and wham the door shuts.......then take them out and ........bang.

Hey OOPS
Happy long weekend friday
Are you staying out of the way of those funny red and white licence plates (ALBERTA)
100 mile an hour screamin down the straight road/hiway and into the corner's 5 mph, typical flatlanders.

And yes Beaverdale is OH so much ?????
Or at least it used to be, I was going to move there from Summerland, but way too much inbreedin' going on there.
dealin with the coyote's, two prong attack.
Shore up the fence's, and I am not getting into the second one, just yet. :D

Timick on a piece of light bread.:D Takes out any thing that eats it and anything that eats the leftovers as well. :D No, Really we had a guy down here that would trap-um then sell them (50.00 bucks a piece) to a 600 acre ranch so rich ughh wealthy professionals could come and have something to shoot, did't take much effort. Doesn't sound like hunting to me but I'm not one of the rich guys.

We would always use the sponge pads dipped in beef gravy and then tear them up into little chunks. Leave them out for the coyotes to eat. The rest will take care of it self with time (a very short time).
I myself would never do this to the furry creatures of the woodland forest

Re: Enough of this crud

My son has a little Marlin .17 that he has bagged several "yotes" with at some amazing distances. Good ole .223 works well too.
I know its summer so this will be of no use now but it could be a good future option. I heard a story one time how natives would take a sharp knife and fix it to a stick. They would get blood on the blade and let it freeze. They would dip and let it freeze till there as a large build up of frozen blood. They would then take the stick and push it into the ground so that the knife blade would stick up about a foot or so. The coyotes would come in and lick the blood from the blade all the while slicing their tongues and then bleed out and die. I have talked with people who say they have tried this and it does work. Although I don't have any love loss for yotes it does seem in humane to me but sometimes you have to resort to drastic measures to save your livestock.
I'm not sure if you can still get them but I have also heard of people putting poisoned peanuts (like they used to sell for killing moles and gophers) into a pile of guts or a carcass and killing them that way.

Leave a bucket of 50/50 antifreeze out for them to get into. They'll love it, but their kidneys sure won't....

if you're going to kill them, do it quickly. that's a fairly slow process.

Yes, glycol poisoning does fall into the "cruel" category, but it's not a whole lot worse than a leg trap. A shot to the head is quicker, but more dangerous to fellow humans..
