You should see the look on my wife's face when the door shuts in front of her.
Then my ears get red as she scolds me.

You're supposed to lock the door (if you can) so you dont have to listen to the scolding.

I agree! People are purdy friendly here in Gods' Country in most ways. N' the women are better lookin' then the one's who hang in Freemont with hair growin' where in should not: too! JR

Carefull there dude. Hault seems to be Freemont type dude!
But he has a cool boat.
However I do something that my wife calls rude but understands why I do it.
Heading north on I-5 going towards Gig Harbor you take the Hwy 16 exit (38th street) Tacoma. There are two lanes and everyone in our area knows the right lane ends under the I-5 overpass!

However if you stay in the right hand lane you can get ahead of 30 cars.
Then cut in.
I ALWAYS when seeing this straddle the center line.

They can not pass me and everytime the people in the left lane honk thier horns and give a big thumbs up!

I agree, common courtesy does not seem to exist anymore, I sure miss it,especially driving.. seems like everyone in florida left and new york cabbies filled the spots..

Here in the little piece of God's Country (Northern Michigan - Beautiful and no natural disasters, bugs, poisonous snakes, etc.) courtesy is easy to see, in the natives. Most of the transplants are RUDE! I do hold the door for man or woman if they are near. Sometimes I stand there for a minute or two, it seems like a job then. I can usually tell social status, age or native/transplant when I do this. The generation ME'rs rarely say thank you, the middle age or older ladies ALWAYS do, except the really stuck up (affluent?) wenches. When I hold a door open or allow someone to go ahead of me, if they don't say, "Thank you," I generally say "You're WELCOME!" loudly. Not infrequently the middle aged ladies act really surprised, I just reply "There's still a few gentlemen around. Courtesy is not dead."

But I agree it's in the lack of manners taught. And its the whole "To Heck with you, me first, get out of my way," attitude of the generation ME.

i hold elevators for people.. i hold doors open.. i wave thanks when people let me change lanes or enter the highway in front of them in heavy traffic.. and i return the favor often.. i say thanks to everyone that does something for me.. busboy fills water at my table i say thanks.. fills it again.. i say thanks again.. i was a busboy once.. mostly a thankless job.. cept for getting to work with all those cute waitresses.. but once in a while a nice table would slip me a tip and say good job..

anyway.. rude people come from all generations.. its not just kids these days.. think about it.. what generation since who knows when were parents or older adults not saying "kids these days".. my step mother once tried to blame my generation on why airlines have reclining seats!! cause we are all lazy and rude!! are you nuts!!

im not sure what my point is beyond.. i think american society at large is a me first society.. it cuts across the board.. every generation.. for half of folks its a sense of entitlement.. for the other half its just lack of intelligence.. i dont think its always intentional its just a lack of social awareness..

speaking of exits of entrances.. anybody ever notice that even though there are two perfectly good working doors at an entrance people will either push there way through the door you open or like crowd up to the door you open and wait for you to come out so they can go in.. instead of just using the other dang door! always makes me shake my head a wonder..

Don't have that problem. When you're 6'1" 215 lbs and look like you just walked out of the mountains people stop and wait to see what you are going to do first or go the other way. Usualy all I have to do is look at someone and they stop and think about what they were going to do. When I bow up people back up.....ANIMAL
