Hello,
I am getting closer to laying the new floor in my 1974 Arrowglass Cougar and really don't want to put carpet back in it. I was wondering about the epoxy garage floor coatings you can buy at Lowes. Would this adhere to the plywood floor and how waterproof would it be? Thanks

I wonder how slick it will be when wet.

I had the same idea last spring when trying to find an alternative to carpet. Even spoke with tech support for the mfr but they would/could not offer any support or advice for that application. From what I read, it sounded like an ideal solution but I wasn't willing to be the guinea pig :). Ended up putting a nice carpet in in the end.

That material from Lowes is epoxy only by name.
It is a two part waterborne material that has hard finish and it will adhere to prepared unpainted concrete well.
Could be bad choice over plywood.
Sherwin Williams offers true 2 part epoxy (called "Tile Clad") paint that I have used for plywood floor with good results.

you'd be better off going with something like duraback for the floor if you want to use a paint.

I wouldn't use the two part epoxy from lowes, it doesn't hold up well under it specified conditions let alone marine conditions.

i posted something like this about a month ago, not much positive feedback, aparently these paints arent uv freindly, i was told they will chalk up is on clothes feet etc, i decided against this application not for these reasons, but because i remember when i painted the garage floor the pot life was only about an hour, i dont think i could cut in what was required in that amount of time, i am still not sure what i will use, i still have awhile to decide, i have gathered thru this forum that sherwin williams porch and deck paint is acceptable if not willing to spend $$$ on marine grade paint, i am glassing over my deck tho, sounds like your painting raw plywood.

I was thinking of doing the same thing but did some research and found out it may not work well. I got some skid no more by evercoat, which is made to be used over fiberglass or wood. I'll post more when I try it.

Spend the money on Durabak. I did and it looks great.

Most (if not all) epoxy paint, garage or appliance, is interior use only. Check the label.
