Epoxy peanut butter

Hey guys,
Been off here for awhile, but its warm and time to get started on my boat again. I am at the point where my transom is glassed ( with CSM and Poly) and I'm ready to glue it to the old outer skin. I have a couple of gallons of Epoxy resin and would like to use it as the glue to make sure that I get a good bond between the old skin and the new transom. My question is, do I have to use silica/ cabosil to thicken the PB, or can I just use milled fibers? What about with Poly? What I'm trying to avoid is ever having to do it again. Thanks.

Re: Epoxy peanut butter

Heliguy, I used thickened poly resin mixed with cabosil and milled fibers. I believe I used about 3 quarts worth, but this left me plenty to make a fillet around the hull. One other thing, I also added 3 relief holes to make sure that I got good adhesion to the the hull.

You can find some more info in my rebuild thread:

Good luck!
