I'm building a plywood swim platform and need to seal it up before painting it. Which would to be stronger (IE: banging into the dock), plain epoxy or poly resin with a layer of mat and cloth?

For a 6'x20" swim platform, how much epoxy would be needed, how much poly resin?

Is 1 layer of mat and 1 layer of cloth good enough if using poly resin, overkill?

Thanks! :D

1/2 gallon of epoxy would yield 10 coats of epoxy and make it bulletproof. Course that's just my opinion. I would'nt mess with poly for this application.

You'll need to paint over the epoxy to protect it from the sun and UV breakdown.

If you want to keep the "Wood" look you could use Marine Varnish with UV Protection.
