I've replaced blown head gasket on my 4hp-2/cylinder-2/stroke o/b, cleaned up the bores and pots, will not fire now re-assembled, forgot to note piston/flywheel position for timing. The flywheel has a lightning flash power symbol with the #1 embossed within a triangle on it. Can anyone explain the timing set up please. model no BER4CUD serial no B1547926. The timing should not change from replacing a head gasket. And the flywheel is keyed. Did you move any of the timing adjustments(max spark or pickup)?

I'm not sure if I'm right about this but last time I worked on my 2cyl 6hp I reckoned that because both HT coils were on the same connector it was possible to put them back in the wrong positions with the result that the top plug would be sparking when the bottom one should be and vice versa. I marked them upper and lower anyway. If I am right could this be your problem?<br /><br />If you have checked the plugs and are getting no spark at all then the problem must lie else where. You have checked the kill button I hope and that all wires which should be "earthed" are and not insulated by a misplaced insulating washer.<br /><br />The lightning flash is a safety warning of high volages. The 1 in a triangle is also a safety warning to ensure the shift control is in neutal before starting and to read the owners manual before starting.<br /><br />Take a look at the symbols pages in the manual!
