I recently purchased a 15hp eska "1979C" serial 67-246972.
Unfortunately, it was stuck in forward. I made the mistake of removing the lower end, only to find no lube and ground up parts. So now I want to find a replacement lower unit.
I have been trolling ebay for a month & haven't seen the exact match.
I have seen a 15hp foot, but it doesn't have that front clip like mine (but a stud instead)
Also I see lots of 7.5 lower units that really look similar to my 15.
Does anyone know if a stud-fitted lower-end or a 7.5hp lower unit can be fitted to a 15hp motor? Sounds like a big power difference, but they really look similar on line.

the stud is a removable part in that it screws in and out of the leg and hides behind the clip in the foot, the ebay foot may be adaptable and mate to the older style, the lower gears from a 7.5 deluxe W/f-n-r will inter change but the drive shaft is a different part number but I have no refrence on exact lenght of the two. other 7.5's are a no go.

Eskaman2008 has a complete set of gears I thnk for about $120

You know what....you made me work for that...the ebay pic is a monkywards and the clip would actually be up on the leg, Eska made subtle changes to design between MW and Sears just so you couldn't swap so easily...
however the gears in that foot will work for you just fine. :)
