Eska 5 HP 1928-A Brand New - not kidding

I ran across a guy that had a motor his dad had bought apparently back in 1973. Dad never got around to getting the fishing boat he dreamed of and ended up with a ski boat for the kids.

Dad passed away and this has been kicking around the basement ever since.

I am not kidding it has never even been fired up not once!

Does a motor like this have any value beyond being a good kicker? It is a Model #1928-A Ser#30109A

How is it to find parts for one of these.. I have a heck of a time sometimes getting parts for my 68 Evinrude 85 hp electric shift

I see attic finds like yours sell on ebay once in a while for double or better the new price. Parts are no big deal, there's much less to deal with and easy to locate regardless of what the detractors say.
If you search this forum you will find its replete with information, although some of the earlier postings you might find will cast a negitive light on your Eska you have a dependable little outboard and its as repairable as any J/E.

Thanks so much for the response! I will post a few pictures after the auxiliary transom mount comes in and I get the dust cleaned off and it is mounted; probably next weekend.

I bought this 68 HydoSwift 16' Deep V a couple months ago and have been neck deep in engine repairs. I have replaced the electrical and fuel components on a 1968 85 HP Evinrude Electric Shift and similar work on a 1962 Gale 5 hp (Ward's Sold this one).

Put in some new seats and carpets and I think I might get out fishing for Chinook or two and perhaps a Sturgeon next weekend or soon thereafter.

I think I am going to use the Eska on a 10 or 12' aluminum boat I can just toss in the truck when I am on smaller water than the Columbia.

Replace that 47 year old rubber impeller before you do anything! The cylinder IS air-cooled but the lower bearing and seaL DEPEND ON COOLANT TO LIVE LONG!
