I have acquired an eska boat motor manufacture number 203477 Model number 1705d. It apparently has an air cooled head and a water cooled lower unit. The title for this engine says 1954, I find this hard to believe. It runs really well, but any info would be appreciated. I am wondering about the spark plug type and the oil mixture and what type of oil it uses for the gas. Also what kind of oil should I use on the lower unit. Thanks again for this sight. Also it is a forward only kind no gear shift at all.

Re: eska boat motor

1705 is a 1969 5 hp.It uses a Tecumseh Power head,
type AV600. The fuel mix is 16:1 My 89 aftermarket manual says use a good grade of outboard 2 stroke oil.
There are many that feel Chain saw 2 stroke oil is best.
I lean toward the chain saw oil.Plug is a J13Y Champion
or suitable cross.Regular outboard Lower unit lube for the gearcase. It uses a pump to cool the exhaust leg.
And water should mist out of the relief holes in the leg.
Certified parts corp may have parts, also a small engine shop may have some parts for the power head.
There are after market manuals that cover many brands below 30 hp. in one manual .
