Hi, new here and looking for basic information, this is my first motor. Trying to find fuel mix ratio, spark plugs type etc.
Don't even know if motor will start yet but trying no to mess up. I know company is out of business and parts are hard to find and company rep isn't stellar. So looking at basics before I decide to continue

As you probably already know, that is a Tecumseh engine, derived from their basic chainsaw/lawnmower engines. You didn't mention the horsepower so specific details are hard to come up with. Generally speaking, the older models used 16:1 fuel mix and yours probably was speced at 50:1. There really wasn't that much change in the engine, so if it were mine, I think I'd go closer to 16:1. There is a big war going on with the oil topic, so you can believe anything you want to. Most will agree to use chainsaw oil in air cooled outboards. Spark plug? Need to know what you have.

There are so many threads on Eskas here that I usually don't even bother reading them. You might want to browse through them and see what you can learn.

Thank you for the reply. It is a 1970 model and is 7 hp based on the info from the model and serial number. It sounds like 16: is the way to go

Old spark plug chart printed in 1978 says it takes a J13Y. Nowadays, there would be a C added, J13YC. J12YC is pretty popular, just one step colder.

Thanks for your help, motor runs like a champ (so far) had to put in a new fuel filter and it started right up. Now trying to get my Evinrude going, thanks again
