Eska impeller Spirol pin question

I have a Ted Williams 7HP motor that I am tuning up. The Sears site says that the pin that holds the impeller in place is a Spirol Pin 7/64 x 21/32.
I'm not sure if that is stainless or not. My question is whether I can substitute a tension pin in place of this, as Spirol pins are hard to find and the stainless ones are really expensive. The problem with tension pins is that they are not stainless.

Don't worry, you'll be going back in there for another impeller before the steel pin will have time to rust away. Those impellers win the prize for world class cheap-chintzy. Cheap design, that is.

the sears site is www.3.sears.com and no you dont have to stainless like was said in the eairlier thread, the impellor is JUNK and im having a friend machine one for me in nylon which i hope will last longer. the impellor i found was on ebay for 17.00 or 10.00 depending on which one you use. same with repair manual for 21.00 w/ shipping. sears wanted 32.00 for the impellor. a piece of useless rubber glued to a nut with a pin groove in it. what a JOKE

also they arent bad motors if you get one cheap and have to put a couple dollars in it. easy to work on and i dont have any problems with mine. its a 77 gamefisher
