theres a small lock ring to remove, kind of hard to see, you need a very small flat screw driver or pick to remove it. you may have to hold one end steady while you pry the other end up.

thanks for the response, however, I do not think there is a lock ring. I assume you mean on the inside circumference of the casting around the plastic piece. I will try to post a picture tomorrow.

Your right as rain, there is no lock ring...my eyes decieved me because I could have sworn I could see a lock ring:eek: however on the heals of bad information I awoke early this AM and since I have to re-seal my lower too I decided I would master this beastie...I simply used a small flat head srewdriver to pry and channel locks to turn and out she came...notice there is a O ring around the retainer plate and the seal is on the backside.

I'm guessing but the blue O ring is the replacement for the O ring on the retainer plate

and just a little comparison and I see that eskaman has a better price than sears, but you can also get new retainer plate from sears...sears will also charge a minimum of 10$ to ship

I have had real trouble with sears and Ted Williams parts orders, you have to watch them on seals and such, last order they fouled it so bad they gave me my money back and told me to just keep the parts, but had no intention of changing there part no. even though it was wrong:confused:
