Hello, The Boat is a 93 Capri/1750 w AQ125-270VP outdrive.
Story is this.....overheating caused by various worn out parts, PART IS COMPLETLY REMOVED FROM BOAT. and now i have the intermediate housing in hand and need to get the tube pressed out so the cooling bushing (item 11 in the exploded parts diagram 'fig 58 intermediate housing') can be replaced.
1. anyone with shop experience know what I should expect if I take it to the local boat shop?
2. how about one of you guys who has done it......can i do it with a press and some hand tools? heat?? cautions and things you did not do right?
3. some step by step photos?

Any and all help will be GREATLY appreciated.

Re: estimated cost of repair VP-270 Intermediate housing cooling bushing

got the part off and took it to all 3 of the boat shops here in Great Falls Montana, ALL 3 of them refused to do the job due to the skill level needed to do the job. I figured wth and just took it to work after I got all of the parts and special order tools I needed to do the job. I was able to press the tube out of the yoke and replace the upper seal that mates to the hose assy tube. used lots of heat and just did it a little at a time until it started to come out, thats how I knew it was hot enough. works good now. Thanks for the help
