I have an 88 mod 150 Johnson, and need to know what rpm is an engine hour based on for this motor? I can't not find this number and need it to be able to estimate my hour usage with the tachometer which does not have an hour meter.

For example you will see tractor hour meters that state "Hours at 2000 RPM" so after 120,000 revs the meter shows one hour.

Op time RPM motor hrs
hrs hrs
1 1000 0.5
1 2000 1.0
1 4000 2.0

Saludos

Re: Estimating Motor Hours

It doesn't work that way with boats. An hour of use on a boat can be at 500 rpm trolling or 6000 rpm headed for the next fishing spot or marina. Engine hour meters are merely electric clock movements that happen to be calibrated in hours and tenths of hours. Heck, they even click off hours with the engine not running if the engine stalls for example and you forget to turn the key off. Depending on the area you live, you can estimate hours of use. For example up here in the tundra where we boat basically from April to November, the average boat sees 50 hours of use. Some a lot more, some a lot less.
