Hi all,
I just wanted to see if there was a difference in doing a compression test on an Etec as opposed to other two strokes outboards. I have done these tests on older models but never one with all the electronics that the newer engines have. I justy dont want to go breaking anything. Thanks in advance

Same process, just be sure to ground out the sparkplugs or disconnect the crank position sensor connector so the motor won't spark.

Thanks for the help. Is it okay if I just pull the kill switch cord and remove the ignition wires from the spark plugs. Thats the way ive always done it in the past from the key switch. Ive heard of jumping the starter solenoid but I dont have a jumper.

A jumper is just a short peice of wire with an alligator clip on one end, touch the other end to the terminal and it will turn over,

remove all plugs and ground them to the block.
