Etec Diagnostic software problem...need help.

I ordered the evinrude diagnostic software with USB cord on ebay from a seller in Canada.
I can't get the USB driver to properly install on my 64 bit, windows 7 system. I've actually tried to install to two different win 7 systems now and no luck. Actually the driver appears to install successfully but then it won't show up in my device manager under 'ports' and therefor the laptop won't recognize the USB cord or the motor when plugged in to the emm port with the key on.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can you see the usb driver in the diagnostic software? Go to tools, options, comm. If it is there you may have to select it so the software can see the driver.

Hmm...I'll try that later.
The installation instructions say to install driver and verify it in device manager before installing the diagnostic software.

Your problem is not with Evinrude, or anything Evinrude related. Your problem is with the manufacturer of that USB to serial adapter.
Get on their website and look at their FAQs or troubleshooting process.

What brand is the adapter? Mine is a Startron and works fine with XP.
