Re: Etech

Those "wrinkles" were quite out in the open with Evinrudes Ficht engines. When they produced the Etech's, they knew exactly what not to do!

The FICHT engines were every bit as bad as the Optis. The E-tech is a second generation DI technology and evinrude appears to have the wrinkles iron out. INcidently the injection sytem and electronics are quit a bit differant on the E Tec.

Re: Etech

Hello,
A message from Holland. Yesterday i spoke a man who had a 75 E-tec. He told me he had this motor behind a 'rubberboat'. Normaly the boat runs about 50 miles. But, on the GPS the boats runs 40 miles. The did everything about it. Even the mechanics of Evinrude came. Not solved...
Stationair the motor was quite. He told me the motor makes on higd rpm a lot of high sound (he told me a typical 2 stroke sound). . .

I read a lot about the e-tec. Is this the only bad story about the E-tec?

Re: Etech

I would say he has a mountign problem or the wrong prop.
The etec I have been around is quiet regardless of RPM and it performs everbit as good as the other 90hp motor it replaced.

Strange that is..
My father just got his boat, 20 feet with 15o e-tec, and I think it's very silent for a two cycle.. My friend has a RIB with 115 merc four cycle, and of course its hard two compare as you seldome hear both at the same time and from the same angel, but if we have measured, I think the E-tec would come out alot more silent..
And the dealer and producer of the boat actually said the boat would go aprox 36-38 knots max, but we got 41,6 on gps d:) And the consumption is also a bit under what we had expected.. Overall a very good engieno:)

Re: Etech

This is a little off the etech topic also-
Bass and Walleye Boats did a comparison test with a: merc 250 opti, merc 250 verado, suzuki 250 4stroke and a yamaha 250 4stroke.
The opti merc pretty much walked away with everything- best acceleration, speed and most fuel efficent. It only lost some points for being louder than the 4strokes.
So the etech and the optis are more efficent than the 4strokes of equal HP.

That is funny. I know a man who had a 225 Optimax. He trade the engine for a Verado 225. He told me that the Verado is 80 KG heavier, but the Verado has more power then the Optimax. Acceleration and topspeed..

A lot of stories... I don't have the money for those engines. That is a relieve...8)
