e85 cars cost around 150$ extra to make, some parts need to be SS to take the alcohol abuse.

One thing that people forgot in the mix of biofuels is bio engineered crops.

Corn produces 1-2 ears of corn naturally, if you could convince the stalk to do 2-4 then you could double the production quickly and easily.

there is good book out there called Beyond Oil.

This guys estimate is we are running out of drill and pump oil, the cheapest type there is. This is where you stick a pipe in the ground and get oil out.

These are his estimates now.
Coal oil 300-400 years
Shale oil 100 years
Sand Oil - 200 years

the difference is this oil must be 1st processed to get the oil OUT of what is holding on to it. This is an extra cost which will drive up prices.

When prices for oil get above 60-70 a barrel and STAY there then other fuels come into play

Tomatolord

Lake,

Ya hit it on the head. We are flopping around like a fish. We need to focus.

I saw the exact same thing you did, Canada does have lots of that oil sand stuff, and yes it is a viable alternative to mideast oil.

Lets hope someone finds an answer soon.
