I don't recall reading anything here (iBoats) about using new blended automotive fuel with 10% ethanol in older outboard 2 stoke motors. I'm not sure I can even find "older" non blended fuel around here. ( saw a notice at the gas pump that suggested boaters contact the store management prior to fueling.

I'm running a 1960 Gale 60hp v-4 with a 32:1 mix in brand new plastic gas can. Will automotive fuel hurt or should I get non blended fuel someplace (that would be real inconveinient).

We been using E-10 for over 10 years now. I would recommend you replace all the fuel lines with newer material if they haven't already been replaced.

Rubber is the enemy of ethanol.
Just replace the fuel lines if there is a problem and all should be good.

Do a search on ethanol poisoning.

You are running a 24:1 engine on 32:1 and you are worried about E-10?

Good advice above, but please fuel your engine as the maker intended.

OOOPPPPSSSSSSSSS.

24:1 it is!!!

I'm not sure where 32:1 came from? Maybe my chainsaw gas can or something. The hoses are newer, although I have not changed them since owning the boat last 2yrs.

I didn't know if the 10% ethanol would burn too hot or too cold for an older 2stroke. I my 3 outings so far it is running very good for 49yrs old. Heck I'm running pretty good too :D

install water/fuel seperator(Walmart $27) on your transom, use Stabil Marine Fuel Stabilizer all the time(Walmart $20/quart), should eliminate most fuel/ethanol related problems. If your old carbs have drain plugs on them, then drain them a couple of times per year to be sure there's no water or contamination in them. Good Luck!
