Re: Ethanol

^^^ That's what I said. There is no "real" formula for gasoline, but the generally accepted one is C8H18. Look it up. also, look up how much oxygen is in gasoline...virtually none, only that which is in the multitude of additives.

Re: Ethanol

Daum,! Can you feel the love in here?!!!!Well some of you may be to young to remember this. In the early 70s, We still had leaded fuels witch was an additive. So why was leaded less expensive than non leaded fuels? When gasoline is refined, it comes out what is known as white gas. Almost the same compound as the fuel you used in your old Coleman lanterns. Hence no lead! It's called product in demand! Now to back up even farther, President "I am not a crook"(Nixon), Dreamed up an energy crises. You might be asking yourself why? Well if you are good with history, what was going on just before that? "Watergate" So to get the Americans minds off of Watergate, we now have a energy crises. Not enough Fossil fuel/s,oils to keep up with the American dream. Now, have you ever heard of the Alaskan pipeline? Ask yourself this. Where is all that beautiful crude oil going? About 70% goes to Japan. 30% to US. Now here's the pisser! We have no import tax on Japan, and we sell them US oil at cost! But this even gets better. Have you thought whats going to happen to all the big $$$$$ that oil tycoon/s make while more so called green energy vehicles are mass produced? That's so simple it's funny. They don't care!!!. They will just mark the price up in order to compensate for revenue lost. In the midwest and central California, there are so many oil rigs shut down, not because there wells went dry, but because they want to keep the price of fuel up, and tell you and I that there's not enough crude oil in this Country and we have to allow OPEC, to regulate oil production. Sound like a scam to you? And we buy this crap day in and day out! Not to long ago, a survey crew went to Montana, Wyoming and few other States to test for oil. Do you know what they found? Enough fossil oil that would last the U.S.A. for 200+ years!!!!! So my fellow Americans, I ask you this. What would happen to the price of fuel if everyone for one day didn't buy an ounce of fuel or even a lousy quart of oil? I am sorry if I have offended anyone, but this horse crap that were supposed to believe is just that! I won't even mention the fact that when the Vietnam was in full swing, we were having gas wars here! Sorry, but you can't fix stupid!

Ethanol, by volume, has substantially less energy, than gasoline does. Compare (76100 BTU/gal) to a gallon of gasoline (114100 BTU/gal.). That's why mileage sucks compared tro old pure gasoline. We have a few sellers nearby selling E0, and I'm using it!

The more ethanol, the poorer the gas mileage.

Re: Ethanol

I've never "experimented with engines" on a test stand, I've only worked on cars, motorcycles, and outboards for 30 some years and I've never had to adjust a mixture screw 3 full turns. I'm sorry if I offended you daselbee.

Re: Ethanol

I wouldn't suggest that you alter the fuel/oil ratio. You might consider changing your fuel lines to ethanol resistant lines, but other than that, go fishin' and enjoy your rig!!

NO, no, no.

The fuel/oil ratio has NOTHING to do with ethanol.

As stated, Ethanol has an affinity (attraction) to water. So, you treat your fuel with a stablizer and keep it as fresh as possible.

As far as older outboards, (pre 1990's) you may have to update hoses, gaskets, seals, etc.
